1865<$20> MS62 PCGS. The 1 in the date is triple punched, and has traces of earlier punches both above and below the prominent 1. This satiny representative is uncommonly well struck, even on the often indistinct hair curls. A reeding mark in front of Liberty's nose and a shallow abrasion to the right of stars 2 and 3 keep this attractive example from an otherwise deserved Select rating. The 1865 Twenty is scarce in all grades, and the supply of Uncirculated pieces thins out to only a few pieces. Winter and Crum suggested a total Mint State population of just 12 to 15 coins, and stated that an MS61 or finer example is within the Condition Census, with just two or three coins grading better than MS62. This is an extremely important opportunity for the advanced collector. Population: 4 in 62, 5 finer (6/05).
