1865 1C One Cent Judd-406, Pollock-475, R.7, MS65 PCGS. Snow-PT1c, same dies as the Plain 5 Snow-1 Indian Cent (FS-007.4) which has a clearly repunched date. Struck on regular issue dies, as noted above, but on nickel alloy with a plain edge. Although designated by PCGS as a business strike, the fields are moderately reflective. The highpoints and the right side borders, however, are not fully struck. Rick Snow writes in Volume 2 of his Attribution Guide, "The designation assigned to these seems to be at the whim of the grader, as similar coins will be found graded Proof and MS." A carbon fleck at 7 o'clock on the reverse serves as a pedigree marker. Population: 2 in 65, 1 finer (1/05). Lot:9835
