1865 $1 Seated Liberty Dollar, Judd-435, Pollock-508, Low R.7, PR63 Brown NGC. The regular issue With Motto Seated Liberty dollar design. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. About 10 to 12 examples of this Judd number are known in various degrees of preservation. Like many other pattern pieces dated in the mid-1860s, this variety is considered a restrike or novodel coined in the late 1860s or early 1870s. Walter Breen claims that this pattern is from the same reverse die used to coin the last 1866 and first 1867 proof Seated dollars. This commentary might help to establish when these pieces were struck, although it is important to remember that the die might have been used to coin patterns first, and also that the reverse die may have been used in several later years. This lightly mirrored piece has distinctive olive coloration with splashes of blue toning and limited pale orange color on the obverse.
From The Jones Beach Collection.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
