Half Dollars 1864 NGC graded Mint State 65. <b>Decidedly superior to just about any 1864 business strike that comes around, this has outstanding depth in its strike on Liberty as well as the eagle side. Indeed, even Liberty's sandal-clad foot shows the straps holding the foot covering in place! Stars are all full if not exactly bold, while the shields are splendid to examine under a magnifying glass and the eagle's feathers nicely delineated. Events at this time dictated that many silver issues from the eastern mint at Philadelphia got exported. Many half dollars struck this year went to Central and South America where they circulated before returning (well worn) to our shores in 1877-78 and later according to bank records.
