<B>1864 S$1 MS64 NGC.</B></I> A deeply toned near-Gem example, this piece has reflective fields and excellent design definition with the unquestioned surfaces of a rare business strike example. While many proofs exist for this date, few business strikes have survived in the higher numerical grades as evidenced by the current population of this date. The same is true for all Civil War era issues of the largest silver denomination. Both sides of this piece have a few grade-limiting abrasions beneath the mottled golden-brown and iridescent toning.
