5.5" x 8.5", on California State Telegraph Company form. Sent 31 Aug. 1864 from John Green, Atchison, KS to H. S. Rumfield, Assistant Treasurer of the Overland Mail Co. in Salt Lake City, 1861-1866. Hiram's family apparently remained in Tiffin, OH while he was in Utah (according to some genealogy forums). Hiram shows up in the history of Salt Lake as a representative of Overland Mail in 1862. Green's short message. Will start next Monday. Indians moderately quiet. road open well. Presumably to Salt Lake City.
