As pointed out on the USPatterns.com website, this die trial is struck from an obverse die with the broken D in UNITED and may be a backdated novodel. This is a Superb example that is unequaled at either of the major services. Fully struck, the surfaces show a significant amount of original red luster with a light overlay of bluish-brown.
