1864-Dated Anti-Copperhead Horatio Seymour Political Broadside. We have never seen this distinctive item before. It compares Horatio Seymour, then New York governor and later 1868 presidential candidate, to notorious Revolutionary War turncoat Benedict Arnold. Likens charges made by Seymour against the Lincoln Administration, point by point, to those leveled by Arnold against Washington and the Continental Congress in 1780. The author consigns the Copperhead dissidents to the same fate as the Tories of the Revolutionary War period. This 1864-dated broadside is considered a Lincoln re-election item, and is one of the most interesting of its genre that we have encountered. Minor light age spotting and a trivial margin tear must be noted, but do not detract. 10" x 12.5".

Shipping: Miscellaneous Collectibles, Smal (view shipping information)
