Boldly impressed with a hint of contrast on each side. The Breen <I>Proof Encyclopedia</B></I> describes two proof obverses and attributes this coin's obverse as Beistle 1-A, with the 64 close together and lightly recut. The 4 is distinctly larger and lower than the 6. A fascinating piece from the Civil War years.
