<B>1864 2C Small Motto MS64 Red and Brown PCGS.</B></I> Considered by some to be a pattern issue. If the Small Motto could indeed be proved to be a pattern, that would go a long way toward explaining the rarity of this issue. This is an interesting example of this key issue. The obverse and reverse are considerably different in color. The obverse retains almost full mint red, and as such the reduced size of the motto is easy to discern. The reverse, on the other hand, has an evenly subdued brownish patina with tinges of red around the margin. Sharply struck with a couple of small carbon spots on the obverse.<BR><BR><B>Coin Engraver:</B> James B.
