<B>1864 25C PR66 NGC.</B></I> Philadelphia struck just 470 proof quarters in 1864, but that level was an increase from the year before, and production would continue to rise as the United States emerged from the Civil War. This flashy, sharply struck specimen has dramatic patina, with aqua and cloud-gray toning over most of the obverse giving way to vibrant ruby and cerulean at the upper right. The reverse exhibits vivid sun-gold and orange patina as well.
