1864<1C> Copper-Nickel PR65 PCGS. The prevalence of bronze Civil War tokens in circulation was noted by the U.S. government in 1864. Congress reacted by banning the passing of such pieces, and the Mint responded by changing the alloy of the cent from copper-nickel to bronze. The present intricately struck Gem features moderately mirrored fields and seamless pale rose-gold toning. Population: 41 in 65, 10 finer (9/06).
