<B>1864 10C PR66 Cameo PCGS.</B></I> The continued production of small quantities of proof coins in the 1860s seems absurd at times, particularly when juxtaposed with the brutal endgame of the Civil War. Yet the mintages continued, and Philadelphia struck 470 proof dimes in 1864. That issue yielded a number of spectacular survivors, including the present piece. The richly frosted devices display bold detail as always, and the mirrors remain deep, with only a trace of silver-gray patina. An amazing specimen.
