<B>1864 $1 PR67 NGC.</B></I> A window of brilliance at the obverse center is bounded by ruby-lilac and jade-green shades. The reverse alternates between deep aquamarine and cherry-red toning. The strike is unimprovably precise, even on Liberty's hair and the nearby star centers. Careful rotation beneath a strong light fails to locate any surface imperfections. The Civil War date has a proof mintage of just 470 pieces, and the associated business strike emission of 30,700 pieces is also minimal. Unlike the circulation issue, proofs show no trace of repunching on the date.
