<B>1863-S H10C MS66 NGC.</B></I> This piece ranks among the finer existing examples of the date. During the middle of the Civil War, silver production in Philadelphia was limited, and those pieces coined did not circulate. In San Francisco, mintages were generally higher, but most of the coins immediately entered circulation and Gem or finer quality examples survived in extremely limited quantities. This sharply struck piece has exquisite detail and frosty luster. The obverse exhibits considerable gold toning and the reverse is mostly brilliant.
