1863 Liberty Seated Dollar NGC PF64
Like the other Civil War-era Silver Dollars struck from 1862-1865, the 1863 usually shows minor hairlines. While these features are discernible on the present coin, they are not as pronounced as those on the most other Proof dollars made in this period. Both sides are choice and glittery with sharp striking definition seen over virtually all devices as one should expect and wonderful deep gunmetal blue iridescence encompassing both sides. Also befitting the grade, we are unable to locate any abrasions, and the surfaces are smooth in appearance. The 27,200 business strike Silver Dollars delivered in the Philadelphia Mint in 1863 make this year a scarcity. The 460 Proofs assure that only a few choice Proof 64 examples are seen on the market annually. (#7006)
