1863-Dated Civil War Period, Historic Printed Sheet Music Titled, “GREENBACKS!” by Dan D. Emmett (author of Dixie’s Land), New York, Choice Very Fine.
This original Printed Sheet Music is titled “GREENBACKS! - New Song for the Times,” as sung by Bryant’s Minstrels, with words and music by Dan. D. Emmett, author of Dixie’s Land, High Daddy, &c.&c,” New York. This 1863-Dated printing features Green and Black Lithographed decorative cover measuring 10.5” x 14” with 4 pages of music. The colorful front cover design shows two “GREENBACKS” the new $10 and $20 Illustrations of U.S. Federal Paper Money, so called because of the green ink used for their printing. Sarcastic verses such as “Wall Street is but a small plantation, Too small to ever rule a nation, Old Father Abe don’t care about it, he gets on very well without it.” Complete, pages are separated at fold and some minor soiling, a later notation at bottom margins “1863.” Overall in quite nice condition for display.
