<B>1863 50C PR66 Cameo NGC.</B></I> While designated as a Cameo proof example, this lovely Premium Gem is a borderline Ultra Cameo specimen. The intensity of mint frost on the devices on each side easily qualifies for such honors, but the light champagne haze on each side slightly diminishes the actual contrast that appears between the devices and the fields. Silver coins from the Civil War era are difficult to locate, although half dollars are more available than most other denominations as mintages were generally quite a bit higher. However, high quality business strikes and proofs are still elusive. This is a delightful example that will please the connoisseur.
