<B>1863 50C PR65 Cameo PCGS.</B></I> PCGS and NGC combined have certified approximately 225 1863 proof half dollars from a mintage of 460 pieces. Fewer than 30 coins have received the Cameo designation. The Gem Cameo offered in this lot displays a veneer of gold that darkens somewhat at the margins, and is joined on the reverse by wisps of cobalt-blue and lavender. An exquisite strike emboldens the frosted design features, that yield a pronounced contrast with the mirrored fields. A couple of minor handling marks may be all that stand in the way of an even higher grade.
