1863 2C Two Cents, Judd-310, Pollock-375, Low
1863 2C Two Cents, Judd-310, Pollock-375, Low R.7, PR66 NGC. The reverse closely resembles the regular dies 1864 two cent piece, while the obverse exhibits a bust of Washington with the date below. Washington faces right, and has a ribbon binding his hair near his shoulder. GOD AND OUR COUNTRY consumes much of the obverse border. Judd-305 through Judd-311 provide the first portrait of the first president on U.S. coinage, if the privately issued Getz patterns are excluded. Struck in copper-nickel with a plain edge. Only a half dozen pieces are believed extant today. Deeply reflective, the surfaces display attractive red, lilac, and yellow iridescence over each side. This is the highest graded example of this rarity at both of the major services.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
