1863 10C Ten Cents, Judd-330, Pollock-399, R.6, PR63 PCGS. The obverse depicts an ornamental shield with an inverted laurel wreath suspended from a ring. A pair of crossed arrows is behind the shield. The inscription reads EXCHANGED FOR U.S. NOTES. The reverse has 10 CENTS 1863 in the center with * POSTAGE CURRENCY * ACT JULY 1862 around the margin. Struck in either tin or a tin/copper alloy with a plain edge. This is a conditionally rare representative of the variety with plenty of the original finish still in evidence despite moderate silver-gray overtones and some scattered obverse corrosion. There are a few mentionable contact marks on the reverse, and a Mint-made depression in the planchet is seen at 4 o'clock on the obverse.
