The same design, and even more specifically, the same dies used to strike the aforementioned pattern were used to strike this specimen. For the number of pieces struck from this set of dies, the die crack mentioned in the U and S of U.S. NOTES has traveled further, arcing from the rim at 7 o'clock through U.S. to 9 o'clock. An even larger die crack bisects the reverse from 3 o'clock to 8 o'clock.<BR>Previously mentioned in the Stack's September 1987 Sale, the piece was struck in an alloy that is comprised of 97% aluminum and 3% silver and has a reeded edge. Aside from some porosity in the aluminum, this is a boldly struck specimen with nice, watery fields.
