Great piece. January 9, 1862 letter addressed to Charles P Leverich talks about purchasing any checks payable in currency only, water works and Bank of America, sugar, etc. (The Civil War is rapidly approaching!) The paper is folded and addressed and stamped on the back with a New Orleans stamp. Charles Leverich was a shipping merchant, commission agent, and investment banker originally from New York.City: New OrleansCounty: Orleans PerishState: LA
