1862-dated British rifled musket, brass mounted, with English associated earlier socket bayonet and period cleaning rod. The lock shows crown at rear, good 1862 and Tower markings, British proofs, and “24” onbreech. The right side of buttstock is carved with initials “AW”, the stock has been lightly sanded and the markings in the stock not visible. The metal surfaces show a dark brown to black patina with some scatteredlight to heavy pitting, heavier pitting in the area of the breech. The hammer screw is replaced with a copper screw. The swivel has been removed. The gun has been bored out to .62 smooth. A matching patina British bayonet from a .69 caliber matches and seems to have been always with it.
