Two part letter, datelined Bunkerhill, March 1862. Written to Sarah Henderson from her mother and brother John. Second part of letter, from John, reads in part, ''March 14th, 62 / Dear sister After a long silence I embrace the present opportunity to inform you that I am well and happy at present as could be expected of an old bachelor and I hope you and your family are all enjoying good health. If you have ever heard from any of the boys in Texas or California please write to me how they are doing, for I have not heard from them in four years…'' Letter signed, ''Your Affectionate brother John'' First part of letter reads in part, ''Bunker Hill, 13 March 1862 / My Dear Daughter…times are very hard here but I suppose that is the case all over the country at the present time. I suppose you have heard that Maria is married…I remain your affectionate Mother Mrs. E. Breden.'' Sepia letter, measuring 4.5'' x 7.5'', runs 3pp. and has patriotic vignette. Bright letter with isolated foxing and light crease toning, otherwise in fine condition.
