1862 S$1 MS64 PCGS.
1862 S$1 MS64 PCGS. It is likely that, of the 11,540 business strikes produced, many 1862 Silver Dollars were exported, virtually all of which were melted. The remainder were probably released into domestic circulation in the late 1870s, when Silver Dollars were once again worth more as circulating currency than as bullion. Like virtually all high grade 1862 Seated Dollars extant, this uncommonly nice Mint State example displays scattered striations (as struck) in the moderately bright fields. Both sides are untoned with a strike that is sharp in all areas save for the very top of Liberty's head and over the eagle's left (facing) leg feathers and talon. A tiny reeding mark in the reverse field just inside the tip of the eagle's right (facing) wing is useful for pedigree purposes. Population: 14 in 64, 2 finer (10/03). Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid.
