1862 H10C PR67 NGC. As with most Civil War coinage, the 1862 half dime is not generally available as a business strike because of widespread melting. Proofs are generally more available. This is a superlative proof striking that has deeply reflective fields. Each side displays gray-rose and sea-green toning, colors that are undoubtedly original on this uncleaned coin. Magnification shows a few tiny lint marks that were struck into the planchet at the time of manufacture (a common occurrence on proofs from the 1860s and 1870s), but otherwise the surfaces show no mentionable defects.
