<B>1862 G$1 PR65 Deep Cameo PCGS.</B></I> Just 35 proof dollars were reportedly struck in 1862. PCGS and NGC have certified 15 pieces to date; the Deep/Ultra Cameo designation has been assigned to 10 pieces. In their <I>Encyclopedia of U.S. Gold Coins, 1795-1933,</B></I> Jeff Garrett and Ron Guth contend that this issue: " ... given the rarity, seems undervalued at current levels."<BR> The Deep Cameo Gem proof in this lot displays outstanding gold-on-black contrast. Even apricot-gold color bathes each side, and the design features are crisply impressed. Well cared for surfaces are devoid of any significant marks, and a small lint mark to the right of the 1 identifies the piece.
