1862 G$1 PR64 Deep Cameo PCGS. This 1860s proof issue seems to be somewhat undervalued in comparison to many of the proof Gold Dollars from the 1880s. The 1862 has an original mintage of just 35 pieces, perhaps 19-20 coins of which are extant. This lot offers the first specimen to have received a Deep/Ultra Cameo designation from either NGC or PCGS (1/03). Outwardly, the surfaces present a warm orange-gold sheen, but indirect angles reveal more deeply set green-gold coloration. The contrast between fully, frosty devices and mirrored fields is strong, and the surfaces are free of all but a few wispy blemishes. Accurately graded as a near-Gem with an identifying lintmark (as struck) in the reverse field at the D in DOLLAR. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. On occasion eBay live bid software cannot keep up with the pace of the auctions where 4-5 lots per minute can hammer down, so we recommend that you place a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
