<B>1862 Edition of the </B></I><B><I>New York Herald </B></I></B></I><B>With a Front Page Story on the Evacuation of Corinth</B></I>. 8 pages, 15.75” x 23”, May 31, 1862, toned around the edges, has been disbound, splitting at the vertical folds, else in near fine condition. Major General Henry W. Halleck advanced on the vital rail center of Corinth, Mississippi and by May 25, 1862 was in a position to lay siege to the town. Confederate commander General P.G.T. Beauregard saved his army by cleverly evacuating his men under the darkness of night.
