1862 Confederate Manuscript Document 17th LA Vol
1862 Confederate Manuscript Document Describing Charges Against the Commander of the 17th Regiment Louisiana Volunteers. One page, 8” x 8”, in ink on blue lined paper, dated March 17, 1862. This interesting document describes charges against the commander of the 17th LA Volunteers, a colonel S. S. Heard, specifying that he “did allow firing of muskets or other firearms in or near his camp in the vicinity of Corinth, Miss.”. The document lists the names of nine brother officers as witnesses. The nature of the charge is rather intriguing and further research may provide more detail to sort out this small drama in the midst of a large war. The document has the remnants of mounting tape at each corner of the reverse side and the edges of the document are slightly tatty, toned, and lightly cockled, else it is legible, generally bright and in very good condition.

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
