1862 Ching Dynasty Imperial China Robe
This robe is dated back to a period between 1862-74 during the Ching Dynasty (Manchu). The style is known as K'Ossu, meaning "woven picture", it is totally of silk threads which was the ancient art of China. The style was required to follow the pattern-cut worn by the Emperor Tung Chih (dung Chee) during the dates above. It is an Imperial Robe style. It would be assumed because it is a Mandarin jacket that it was woven for a woman to be worn with accompanying long pants of contrasting color. This Imperial China Robe, silk, gold and magenta in color was hand-woven and no two are alike. A garment of this type has not been made for many years so it would be considered as irreplaceable. Still in selvage condition and uncut. There will be some documents that support the information above.
