1862 $20 AU53 NGC. "Old gold" surfaces, so favored by many collectors as an assurance of originality, are the hallmark of this coin, a scarce date made in the early days of the Civil War. The usual surface abrasions are present that one would expect from a coin in this grade, plus a noticeable bump on the edge by star 6. Garrett and Guth state that the 1862 is "one of the rarest Type 1 double eagles from the Philadelphia Mint," and not just in high grade but "in all grades." They also note that the Smithsonian collection lacks this date. If you want rare, and are after originality, here it is in spades

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
