<B>1862 1C PR66 Cameo NGC.</B></I> Probably fewer than half of the 550 proof cents struck in 1862 are extant today, especially with an outstanding cameo such as seen on the present Premium Gem. Warm orange-gold surfaces display blushes of tan-gray, and powerfully impressed design elements appear to be suspended over the mirrored fields when the coin is tilted beneath a light source. A few tiny inoffensive flecks are all that stands in the way of an even higher grade for this magnificent piece.
