1861-S $10 AU55 PCGS. Free of all but the lightest wear across the highpoints, this is a vibrant Choice AU survivor. Rich orange-gold colors dance across both sides, and they are highlighted by remnants of original luster that flash from some of the more protected areas around the design elements. Many of the obverse star centrils are indistinct--a not uncommon feature for an Eagle from this era--but the central devices are overall bold. The 1861-S (15,500 pieces produced) is more challenging to locate than the 1857-S and equally as rare as the lower mintage (!) 1855-S. Population: 4 in 55, there is only one finer at PCGS, and it grades AU58 (10/02). Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Premier carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
