1861 S$1 MS64 PCGS. The Seated Dollar was never a large mintage issue as its silver content remained unchanged after the Mint Act of 1853. This had the unintended result of removing Silver Dollars from everyday usage in the channels of commerce. Many were also melted or exported overseas, especially during the Civil War. This is a rarely seen near-Gem example that has bright, mildly reflective fields and some cartwheel effect intermixed. Each side is toned light golden with deeper reddish-golden hues around the margins. Sharply struck, each side is well balanced with a few abrasions and luster grazes scattered about. Population: 17 in 64, 6 finer (1/03). Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. On occasion eBay live bid software cannot keep up with the pace of the auctions where 4-5 lots per minute can hammer down, so we recommend that you place a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
