<B>1861 G$1 MS67 NGC.</B></I> Coined at the beginning of the Civil War, this piece is one of the most plentiful Type Three Gold Dollars. The mintage, slightly exceeding 500,000 coins, is the third highest of the design type. Although CA of AMERICA is slightly weak, every other design detail is boldly defined. The surfaces of this Superb Gem display frosty luster with vibrant orange-gold color. Since 1993, we have offered more than 200 examples of this date, but just three MS66 grade coins represent the former high water mark for quality in all of our offerings.
