<B>1861 50C Scott Restrike PR64 NGC.</B></I> Breen-8003. White metal. In 1879, J.W. Scott used the reverse die from the original Confederate half dollar (proof pattern) to produce tokens for collectors. Five hundred pieces were struck on regular 1861 Seated half dollar coins, with the reverses ground off. Another five hundred tokens were produced in white metal, including this piece. Well struck with untoned, pearl-gray surfaces that show nicely reflective fields and a few minor handling marks.
