<B>1861 25C MS67 PCGS.</B></I> Type Two Obverse and Reverse. A remarkable Superb Gem of this collectible Civil War issue. A whisper of tan toning visits the refreshingly unabraded and fully lustrous fields. The strike is needle-sharp, even on such trouble spots as the eagle's ankles and Liberty's hair. Only the left-side obverse denticles are incomplete, since some sloping toward the field is present. The 1861 has a mintage of close to 5 million pieces, as it preceded the suspension of specie payments. Philadelphia production declined annually thereafter until 1866, which had a scant emission of 16,800 pieces.
