1861 $2 1/2 Old Reverse MS62 PCGS. A second and even finer example of this rare variety, the surfaces are overlaid in rich reddish-gold color. The strike is pleasingly sharp, although accuracy compels us to mention some trivial softness of detail over the eagle's left (facing) leg feathers. Somewhat subdued luster, rather than outwardly distracting abrasions, seems to account for the MS62 designation. We stress, however, that this is a relatively attractive survivor of a Liberty Quarter Eagle variety with a low certified population in Mint State. Bold clashmarks (as produced) are noted in the fields. Population: 8 in 62, with a mere four finer (7/02). Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Premier carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
