1861 $2 1/2 Clark, Gruber & Co. Quarter Eagle MS61 NGC. K-5a, R.4. This is a scarce but highly collectible representative of the famous Colorado gold issue of Clark, Gruber & Co. It was this firm that was eventually acquired by the United States to provide a Mint presence in Colorado, but the Denver Mint did not strike a coin until 45 years later. This piece is a lovely representative of the early Colorado gold coinage with especially sharp design features. Both sides have an attractive blend of orange and green-gold color over satiny yellow surfaces. Mint State examples of this issue are seldom encountered and always desired.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
