1861 1C PR64 PCGS. We do not know exactly how many specimen 1861 Indian Cents were originally produced, but the 2003 Guide Book estimate seems overly optimistic given this date's status as the rarest copper-nickel delivery in this proof series. While the original delivery may have been in the neighborhood of 1,000 coins, a sizeable percentage must have been either melted or placed into circulation during the tumultuous years of the Civil War. Not only did this coin survive, but it survived with pleasing Choice quality surfaces. There are only a few stray blemishes, none of which are singularly distracting. Modest, yet appreciable brightness glows through an overlay of original orange-tan color. From the Colburn Collection. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. On occasion eBay live bid software cannot keep up with the pace of the auctions where 4-5 lots per minute can hammer down, so we recommend that you place a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
