1861 10C PR67 Cameo NGC. This is a mostly peripherally toned example, although the central obverse reveals suggestions of the reddish-orange iridescence that competes with cobalt-blue and lilac-pink shadings at the borders. The central reverse is mostly silver-gray in hue, and both sides are equally well preserved with a full strike in all areas. The tiniest nick in the reverse field above the right (facing) bow loop is mentioned solely as a pedigree marker. Population: 1 in 67 Cameo, none are finer with this finish (2/03). Whereas the proof 1860 is reported with both the Type One and Type Two hub varieties, Brian Greer (1992) lists only the Type Two variety for its specimen counterpart from 1861. All examples of the latter variety display six vertical lines in the obverse shield above the ribbon upon which the word LIBERTY is inscribed. From the Philip Kaufman Collection.
