1861 $10 Clark, Gruber & Co. Ten Dollar MS60 NGC. K-7, R.4. This is the finest 1861 Clark, Gruber we have handled since the Uncirculated coin in our 1997 ANA Sale. The design on this coin was obviously intended to mimic the regular issue gold coins of the United States that were in circulation at that time. 1861 is the second and final year of production for this prestigious Colorado firm. The weak striking details that plagued the coins of 1860 are better defined in 1861, but localized areas of weakness are still evident on each side, most notably in the centers. The lustrous green-gold surfaces show one large, distinctive mark in the lower right obverse field that should prove helpful when tracing the pedigree of this important territorial. Listed on page 302 of the 2003 Guide Book. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Premier carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
