Printed with elegant black ink on cream-colored paper, the note is oriented horizontally featuring intricate border work with a prominent vertical "ONE DOLLAR" denomination on the right edge. A classical allegorical female figure is illustrated at left, draped in robes and standing beside a column. To the right, a small vignette of a sailing ship appears above the word "TREASURY." The promise to pay is dated January 1st, 1866, and the note is serial-numbered by hand.
