AU Details.</B></I> Despite a mintage of 56,000 coins, this is a key-date in the Seated Liberty series, and it is especially rare in higher grades as most or all examples saw extensive circulation. This piece illustrates the importance of knowledge, and is destined for the collector who understands more than mere words on a holder. Long thought to be unknown in Mint State grades, NGC has certified a single example as MS61 and only four others finer than XF40, and PCGS has not certified a single piece finer than XF40!<BR> While both sides have diagonal striae of an unknown origin crossing the fields and design, the surfaces retain considerable satin luster beneath deep golden-brown, pale blue, and iridescent toning.
