<B>1860-S $20 AU58 NGC.</B></I> 1860 S-mint double eagles were struck for the sole purpose of serving the growing needs of commerce through widespread circulation. And circulate they did! Most examples known today are in the VF to XF grade range. With fewer than 30 Uncirculated examples believed extant, including a handful salvaged from at least two shipwrecks, a near-Mint 1860-S twenty is a completely acceptable conciliation for most collectors. This is a sharply defined example that retains almost complete mint luster.
