1860 S$1 PR64 NGC. Although the Mint recorded 1,300 proofs of this date, many went unsold and later ended up in the melting pot, leaving a net mintage of 527 pieces, per research from R.W. Julian quoted in Bowers' silver dollar Encyclopedia. The surfaces appear dark-gray, but under a light they reveal gorgeous intermingled magenta, jade-green, and amber on both sides. This well produced and superbly preserved coin offers a bold strike, but the grade is limited from a Gem designation by the luster, muted by the deep toning. There are no obvious surface impairments otherwise. Census: 38 in 64, 26 finer (4/07).

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
