1860-O 50C MS65 PCGS. Tail Hub Variety Two. WB-103. There is a sizeable amount of space between the tops of the LF in HALF, this feature confirming the attribution of the hub variety. As an issue, the 1860-O (1.2 million pieces produced) is not particularly rare in Mint State. (Wiley and Bugert, 1993, assign the date a Low R.4 rating in all MS grades.) In Gem, however, the '60-O is conditionally rare. This is an originally toned survivor whose otherwise antique-copper overtones yield to rose-gray tinting throughout much of the reverse field. Both sides are appreciably sharp in strike, although we do note a little softness of detail over some of the obverse star centrils. Solidly graded with only a few scattered abrasions that are well concealed by the toning. Population: 13 in 65, only 5 finer (1/03). Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. On occasion eBay live bid software cannot keep up with the pace of the auctions where 4-5 lots per minute can hammer down, so we recommend that you place a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
