1860-O<10C>--Improperly Cleaned--NCS. VG Details. A slate-gray example with cloudy surfaces and a hint of granularity. Four of the seven letters in LIBERTY are clear. The date and mintmark are bold. A better date, since just 40,000 pieces were struck, nearly all of which went into circulation. The New Orleans Mint struck the Legend Obverse Dime only in its first and last years of production, 1860 and 1891. The mint closed in 1861, before it had struck Dimes, and after it re-opened in 1879, it was primarily devoted to striking Morgan Dollars.
